Die Verurteilung von Buju Banton, die tragische Ermordung von Copper Cat, die Verhaftung von Vybz Kartel – auch 2011 hat sich wieder jede Menge ereignet in der Reggae- und Dancehall-Szene. Zwölf Monate lang haben wir gefeiert, uns gefreut und manchmal auch getrauert. Zeit für mich, einen Blick zurück zu werfen und 90 Minuten lang die schönsten Highlights, die dümmsten Flops und die größten Hits Revue passieren zu lassen. Another edition of the popular HELP Jamaica! charity calendar is out now for 2012.
All photographers and graphic designers participated with their works for free and honorarily to make sure you are guided through the coming year with some wonderful impressions of the island month by month. For 15€ you can get your copy now at the HELP Jamaica! charity shop - as well as many other products.
All revenues are straight and completely put to good cause and will be supporting the education center in Kingston.

Das 8. Jubiläum begeht Rotown's Foundation Sound standesgemäß mit Live-Show und natürlich einer zum Abriss vorprogrammierten Geburtstagssause im Hole. Zu Gast sind Roots Rocker Uwe Kaa, der spätestens mit seinem Auftritt am Chiemsee diesen Sommer bewiesen hat, dass er die Massive zum Kochen bringt und das Hasch a Fyah Soundsystem, das sich mit seinen legendären Dances längst einen Namen auch außerhalb der Allgäuer Heimat erspielt hat.
Wenn das nicht noch viel mehr Gründe zum Feiern sind...

Rotown's Foundation sound will do so with a live show and of course a party that will surely mash up the Hole club. Presenting singjay Uwe Kaa, who proved his entertainment skills at this year's Chiemsee festival and the Hasch a Fyah sound system, famous for their legendary dances in their Allgäu home we even got more reason to celebrate!

Im vergangenen Jahr sind die Heizkosten in Deutschland um bis zu 35 Prozent gestiegen - wem anders eingeheizt werden soll, der kommt am 28. Oktober ins Backstage nach München, wenn Süddeutschlands heißeste Tänzerinnen um den Einzug ins Finale des jährlichen deutschen Dancehall Queen Contest kämpfen.
Über 4 Runden geht der Vorentscheid, bei dem die potentiellen zukünftigen Königinnen ihre Fähigkeiten unter Beweis stellen können.
Musikalisch untermalt wird das Event von Superlock und den Residents von Cosmohouse.
Meine Badda Gyalore-Kollegin Steffi Dance und ich werden vor Ort sein, um als Jury-Mitglieder die beste Tänzerin zu küren, die dann Ende November beim Contest in Berlin um den nationalen Titel antreten darf.

Mit dem Chiemsee Reggae Summer hat meine persönliche Festivalsaison 2011 Ende August einen krönenden Abschluß gefunden.
Bei meinem 13. Besuch des Events in Südbayern ging es neben dem Dubplate-Studio von Righteous Riddims darum, HELP Jamaica! repräsentativ zu vertreten und natürlich gemeinsam mit dem Reggaeville-Team einen ausführlichen und zeitnahen Report über's Netz in die Welt zu schicken.
Zusätzlich zu Fotos und Reviews haben Anita und ich wieder fleißig Video-Interviews geführt, unter anderem mit Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Toots Hibbert und Ziggy Marley.

An exciting festival saison 2011 found its end with the staging of Chiemsee Reggae Summer.
Visiting the event for the 13th time I took care of our Righteous Riddims dubplate studio as well as representing for HELP Jamaica! and of course once more reporting comprehensive and promptly as part of the Reggaeville-team.
Besides photos and reviews Anita and I were diligently interviewing artists such as Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Toots Hibbert and Ziggy Marley.

Mit Bands wie The Uprising Roots oder Raging Fyah macht die aufstrebende Live- und Roots-Szene in Jamaika bereits seit einiger Zeit von sich reden.
Aus diesem Umfeld kommt auch Kabaka Pyramid, dem Righteous Riddims ihr neuestes Artist-Mixtape widmen. Der junge Künstler aus Jamaikas Hauptstadt Kingston ist seit Jahren in der lokalen Hip Hop- und Dancehall-Szene als Sänger, Rapper und Produzent aktiv und hat nun seine EP "Rebel Music" veröffentlicht. Höchste Zeit für Righteous Riddims, den hochtalentierten Musiker auch dem hiesigen Publikum mit ihrem neuen Mixtape "Ready fi di road" vorzustellen.

With bands like The Uprising Roots or Raging Fyah the prospering live roots scene in Jamaica has created quite a buzz over the past year.
Also hailing from this environment, Kabaka Pyramid is featured now on the newest artist mixtape by Righteous Riddims. The young artist from Kingston, Jamaica is an active part of the local hip hop and dancehall scene as a singer, rapper and producer and recently published the EP “Rebel Music”. About time for Righteous Riddims to introduce the highly talented artist to a wider audience with their new mix “Ready fi di road”.
The mix is now available on soundcloud, where you can also find other mixes from Rotown's foundation sound.

Bei dem 3-tätigen Festival im südbayerischen Übersee treten von 26. bis 28. August unter anderem Luciano, Toots Hibbert, Junior Kelly, Capleton, U-Brown, Linval Thompson und Prezident Brown auf.

For the seventh time Righteous Riddims are setting up the dubplate studio at Chiemsee Reggae Summer this year.
The 3-day event located on South Bavaria welcomes artists such as Luciano, Toots Hibbert, Junior Kelly, Capleton, U-Brown, Linval Thompson or Prezident from August 26th til 28th.

Auch bei Deutschland's beliebtestem Festival, dem Reggae Jam in Bersenbrück konnte das Reggaeville-Team diesen Sommer natürlich nicht fehlen.
Mit Fotos, Live-Mitschnitten und Artikeln wurden Daheimgebliebene das ganze Wochenende zeitnah auf dem Laufenden gehalten und auch nach der Veranstaltung gibt es für die Massive auf Reggaeville noch viel zu sehen, zu hören und zu lesen.
Gemeinsam mit Anita war ich hinter denen beiden Bühnen im Klosterpark unterwegs, um möglichst viele Künstler auf ein nettes Gespräch vor die Kamera zu bekommen.
Insgesamt sind dabei 26 Interviews entstanden, die Euch hoffentlich Freude beim Ansehen bereiten.

Of course the Reggaeville team couldn't miss out on Germany's most popular festival, the Reggae Jam in Bersenbrück this summer.
With photos, live footage and reviews all fans at home had the chance to follow the festival promptly and even now there's still a lot to watch, hear and read on the event on Reggaeville.
Together with Anita I was busy backstage trying to get as many artists as possible in front of the camera for a little chat. In the end we did 26 interviews that you hopefully enjoy watching.

3 Tage lang war das Reggaeville-Team fleißig und hat beim 26. Summerjam Festival in Köln für Euch fotografiert, gefilmt und berichtet.
Anita und ich waren mit Kamera und Mikro unterwegs und haben über 24 Interviews geführt, die es sich durchaus anzusehen lohnt.
Und dass der Spaß bei all der Arbeit nicht zu kurz gekommen ist, beweist unser kleines 'Best of'...

For 3 days the Reggaeville team was busy taking pictures, filming and reporting at the 26th Summerjam festival in Cologne.
Anita and I were out and about with the camera and microphone doing more than 24 interviews definitely worth watching.
Can't believe we still had fun through all the hard work? Better watch our little 'Best of'...

Am kommenden Wochenende ist es wieder soweit, zum 26. Mal findet in Köln das Summerjam Festival statt.
Mit dabei auf der Insel im Fühlinger See ist auch in diesem Jahr wieder die Crème de la Crème des Reggae von A wie Alpha Blondy bis Z wie Ziggi Marley.
Dancehall gibt's unter anderem von Busy Signal, für Dub sorgt Lee 'Scratch' Perry und die Klassiker liefert zum Beispiel Jimmy Cliff.
Für all diejenigen, die nicht live dabei sein können gibt es ebenso wie für die Besucher, die sich nach dem Festival die schönsten Momente noch mal vor Augen führen möchten die Reggaeville-Berichterstattung: Videos, Bilder, exklusive Backstage-Reportagen und Interviews, zeitnah und das ganze Wochenende lang!
Auch ich werde vor Ort sein und hoffentlich möglichst viele Künstler zu einem kleinen Plausch vor die Kamera bewegen können. Klickt also rein und schaut, wie es mir so ergeht als Backstage-Reporterin bei einem der größten Reggae-Festivals Europas!

For the 26th time the festival taking place in Cologne welcomes the cream of the crop in reggae music from A as in Alpha Blondy to Z for Ziggy Marley.
Dancehall is represented by Busy Signal, Lee 'Scratch' Perry takes care of dub and classics are delivered by artists like Jimmy Cliff.
For all those of you, who can't make it to the festival just like for the visitors, that want to take another look at the event Reggaeville will be reporting straight from the island in lake Fühlinger: videos, photos, exclusive backstage coverage and interviews, promptly and all weekend long!

Nach dem großen Erfolg beim Streetlife Festival im vergangenen Jahr ist Badda Gyalore auch 2011 wieder auf der Latin Stage an der Leopoldstraße zu Gast.
Am Samstag den 4. Juni performen Jara, Steffi und ich unterstützt von der Glockwork Posse insgesamt 4 Mal - um 18:40h, ca. 20:15h und bei der After Show Party ab 22:55h. Außerdem gibt's beim Latin Arena Reggae Festival Konzerte von Ray Darwin, Marlene Johnson oder Fyah T. Zwei Wochen später, am 18. Juni geht es dann ein paar Kilometer weiter westlich in die Schwaben-Metropole Stuttgart. Im Rahmen der Wuk'N'Wild Queens Edition bieten Jara und ich am Nachmittag von 16h bis 18h einen Tanzworkshop an. Am Abend kann das Erlernte dann gemeinsam mit Righteous Riddims, Badda Gyalore und den Residents von Reggae Bash im Zollamt unter Beweis gestellt werden - Wuk and Wild eben! After last year's great success at the Streetlife Festival in Munich Badda Gyalore is once more guest on the latin stage on Leopold street. On Saturday, June 4th Jara, Steffi and I will be performing 4 times alongside Glockwork Posse - at 6:40pm, 8:15pm and at the after show party starting 10:55pm. Besides that the Latin Arena Reggae Festival offers concerts by artists such as Ray Darwin, Marlene Johnson or Fyah T. Two weeks later, on June 18th we move on to the west and will be visiting Stuttgart. Within Wuk'N'Wild's Queens Edition Jara and I will be holding a dance workshop in the afternoon between 4 and 6pm. Later on you can show your skills at the Zollamt partying longside Righteous Riddims, Badda Gyalore and the resident Reggae Bash - simply Wuk and Wild! Wenn er am 11.06. die Rosenheimer Astakneipe beehrt, hat der 'Mann vom Land' mit Sicherheit nur die beste Musik im Gepäck. Für den sogenannten 90s Specialist bedeutet das aber keinesfalls nur Reggae aus dem Jahrzehnt, indem er selbst angefangen hat, an den Plattentellern zu drehen, sondern vor allem alles, was Lust und Laune macht. Seine langjährige Erfahrung als DJ und Soundman haben Countryman ebenso geprägt wie seine zahlreichen Aufenthalte auf Jamaika. Gemeinsam mit den Residents von Righteous Riddims trifft also nicht nur Nieder- auf Oberbayern, sondern auch eine geballte Ladung gute karibische Musik auf die Reggae- und Dancehall-Fans, wenn es am mal wieder heißt 'Top Rankin'!

When he's going to visit Rotown's Astakneipe on June 11th the 'man from the country' is surely carrying only the best music with him. For the so-called 90s Specialist that doesn't mean strictly reggae from the century he got started spinning the turntables but anything bringing joy and entertainment. Many years experience as a DJ and sound man characterize Countryman as well as his numerous visits to Jamaica. Playing alongside the residents of Righteous Riddims means not only Lower meets Upper Bavaria but also a trailer load of good Caribbean music for the reggae and dancehall fans - or what we call simply 'Top Rankin'!
